Fantasy Info: Eagles Brian Westbrook Fantasy Ranking is Falling
Brian Westbrooks fantasy ranking took a major blow today, with the news that he will be out until, at least week 1. The reason for this is that he has a bad ankle and needs medical assistance with rehabbing it.
This all came about when Brian was trying to practice in camp and had lots of pain in the ankle. Brian was examined by ankle specialist Dr. Mark Myerson in Baltimore, on Wednesday and may need to undergo a procedure heal the ankle.

Thankfully for the Eagles they drafted stud runner LeSean McCoy in the 2nd round of the 2009 draft. This rookie was slated to help Westbrook (turns 30 this year), giving him a breather here and their, to stay fresh.
The Eagles have an early bye week in week 4 of the season. It would make a lot of sense to me, if the Eagles let Brian rest and get in shape, then comeback in week 5. But even then fantasy owners need to be conservative on this and not think all will be well when he gets back.
Look for LeSean to work with Westbrook in a heavy, two running back system until at least November.

McCoy was slated to be a late round, stash away in fantasy leagues. But now look for him in the late middle rounds of your draft. LeSean will receive plenty of work in 2009.
Right now I see Westbrook as still a middle round pick in this years fantasy draft. He may even be a steal for your team as a No. 3 runner/ flex play. Especially if he comes back fast from the injury.
In reality his chance of a fast recovery are not good, because if this ankle is bothering him so much as to miss this much time. I can not imagine Brian, just walking back onto an NFL football field, like nothing was ever wrong.
