Fantasy Football Info: Jason Witten To Have a Career Year In Dallas
Jason Witten and the Cowboys did not live up to their lofty expectation a year ago. In fact Dallas did not even make a trip to the playoffs in 2008. This season is going to be a very crucial one for everyone in the Dallas organization, as they need not just a playoff birth but some wins when they get their.
Much talk has gone on about Tony Romo and Roy Williams needing to find chemistry on the field together. If they can find this chemistry many in the Dallas camp feel the Cowboys as a team will deliver on their hopes of success in 2009.
While I do believe it will be important for Romo and Williams to connect this season, I hope for the Cowboys sake they don’t forget about their other stars on the offense.
Jason Witten and the Running Game
Even if Roy Williams has a successful season in the Cowboys brand new stadium this year, fans should expect to see a heavy amount of Jason Witten. Tony is trying to build chemistry with Roy, but he already has years of chemistry build up with Witten.
These two know and understand each other very well and are at a point that they don’t have to verbally communicate, while making adjustments on the field of play. This is a true sign of having chemistry from a quarterback to his receiver (or tight end in this case).
While many in the media will talk you to death about Williams and Romo, it will be the quite success at first of Witten and the Cowboys runners that will move this offense.
Look for the Cowboys to pound the football and use it to setup the passing game as the Cowboys have two very talented runners in Marion Barber and Felix Jones. Heck you can even throw in the Boys third running back Tashard Choice as another very capable option for this offense.
Picking up the Slack in the Red Zone
Another piece of the puzzle that needs to be picked up in the passing game is the red zone touchdown opportunities that TO will leave behind. While Jason has lacked having a strong touchdown season in years past, I do believe because of this void, he will do well this year.
It usually takes time to have success in the red zone as a passing game. One of the last things that comes between a quarterback and his receivers is the connection inside the 20 yard line. So look for Romo to go Witten’s way more often in this area then Roy.
Again this is where I believe Witten’s built up chemistry with Romo will pay off.
Fantasy Football Information for Jason Witten
Look for Jason to have a strong consistent season this year. No doubt Witten will help carry this passing offense at times while Roy Williams and Tony work out their chemistry together.
I believe Jason will make a strong run at, 100 receptions for 1,200 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Look for Witten as a very nice option in the early mid rounds of your fantasy football draft.
