Antonio Bryant is Out with Knee Surgery
Today the Buccaneers broke the news that Antonio Bryant will miss the next 3 to 4 weeks with a knee injury. The injury will require surgery and will probably keep Bryant out until the season begins on September 12th.
This is a crushing blow to this teams passing game as they needed their starters in camp to build chemistry with the new quarterbacks and offensive system in Tampa.
Can Bryant be trusted by Fantasy Owners?
Antonio resurrected his career last season and he kind of came out of nowhere in the fantasy football scene to be a solid player. Right now it is going to be hard for fantasy owners to trust that Bryant will be able to play at the pace he did a season ago.
Even this off-season Bryant came out and said that he expected to have lower numbers this season because the team will run the ball more.
Remember last season this receiver was playing for a new contract and was very motivated to produce big numbers for the team. I’m sure he would want to have strong numbers again this year but now that he’s paid it’s not as important to his financial future to get on the field.
In the end the team is probably going to make every precaution to not rush him back to fast as it could damage the knee and get much worse. If that were to happen then his season could be shot and would be a fantasy bust.
Fantasy Football Information on Antonio Bryant
Drop Bryant down into the mid rounds of your fantasy drafts at this point in time. He is a player that is going to be a role of the dice when you take him because of the knee and the situation in Tampa’s new look offense.
Losing this next months work is also going to hurt this receiver as he needed the time to build chemistry with his new quarterbacks and get to know his new offense better.
