Bills vs Steelers: Rashard Mendenhall Starts for Steelers | Player Rankings
This week was the fourth preseason game for the Buffalo Bills as they played in the hall of fame game to begin the preseason. Unfortunately this was the second week for the Bills offense that they had a poor showing.
Rashard Mendenhall Starts for Steelers
The Steelers first round pick a season ago got an opportunity to start as the team gave Willie Parker the night off. Rashard Mendenhall did have a touchdown in the game and two receptions for 16 yards but he only had a three yard per carry average going 16 for 48.
If Rashard hopes to take over someday as Pittsburgh’s No.1 running back he will need to show he has more explosion and a higher YPC.
Ben Roethlisberger returned to the lineup after last week in practice he injured his lower leg and didn’t play in the second week of preseason.
For the game he was strong going 15 of 19 passing for 168 yards passing. In his solid production he managed to find his favorite receiver Hines Ward for 5 receptions for 74 yards.
Ben probably won’t play next week as he rests up for the regular season but it was nice to see that he is healthy and productive before we get the 2009 season started.
Bills Offense Struggles Again
Last week Trent Edwards and the Bills offense struggled in Green Bay against the Packers. This week Trent struggled once again without his star receiver Terrell Owens with a poor 6 of 13 passing for 31 yards and an interception.
I still like Edwards as a sleeper quarterback this season but I would suggest you take him in the late rounds of your draft this year.
