In the second week of preseason it was vitally important that Kyle Orton and the Broncos have a good showing after Orton had three pick last week against the 49ers. While the Seahawks had a good game overall and did pick Orton off one time in the end zone, Kyle did have a good game in week two.
Seahawks Passing Game Looks Good
Seattle’s running game scuffled without starting running back Julius Jones (leg injury) in the game. While they struggled on the ground the Seahawks had a very good passing game as Matt Hasselbeck was 16 of 23 for 171 yards and had two touchdown passes.
This was very nice to see as the Seahawks got bad news this week when Left Tackle Walter Jones had to have another knee surgery and is out indefinitely.
In the first half Hasselbeck and his receivers abused Broncos corner back Andre Goodman for two touchdowns as T.J. Houshmandzadeh and rookie Deon Butler both scored against him.
Fantasy football owners may not know much about Deon but he was the Seahawks third round rookie out of Penn State. Tonight he received an opportunity to play with the first team as Nate Burlson was out with a hamstring problem.
Butler won’t be a starter on this team in 2009 but it is nice to see that Hasselbeck as another target that can make a big play down the field as Butler had a 34 yard touchdown.
If the Seahawks can keep Matt upright this season he should have a good year as the Seahawks will be a throw first team in 2009.
Kyle Orton Rebounds in Seattle
This was a big game for Kyle Orton as he had a very bad night against the 49ers in the first week of the preseason. Tonight Kyle was 18 of 26 for 182 yards passing with a touchdown and a interception.
The next two preseason games for the Broncos will be in Denver so this was a good outing to have before they get back to the home fans this coming weekend. Hopefully Kyle can put another strong game together next week as the home fans won’t be happy with another poor performance.
