Steelers vs Redskins: Willie Parker Scores | Player Rankings
The Steelers and Redskins matched up in their second contest of the preseason and one would believe this was a game primed for a defensive grudge match. In the end the Redskins won the game 17 to 13 but most of the scoring was done after the starters had left the field.
Willie Parker Gets Goal Line Touches
Fast Willie Parker has been lacking in the touchdown department ever since head coach Tomlin has come onto the team a few years ago. While the Steelers do have a bigger running back in Rashard Mendenhall as an option for goal line work, tonight they gave the rock to Parker instead.
Willie delivered on his opportunity with a three yard touchdown run that was the highlight of the early part of the game.
At this point in time Parker should be nothing more than an early mid round draft pick at your fantasy draft. But if you do in fact draft him and he consistently gets these opportunities (and stays healthy) than you will have yourself a steal of a pick in Parker this year.
Jason Campbell Needs to Step it Up
Last week I wrote about how Jason Campbell was not very good in his first preseason game against the Ravens and this week he was even worse. In Jason’s defense he only played for a short time in both games and has played against two of the premier defenses in football.
Next week Campbell won’t get any favors as the has to play against the Patriots defense. In the end this is a business and Jason has taken a lot of heat this offseason for not taking the team to the playoffs a season ago.
If he has a poor outing next week he will probably be showered by boo’s from the home crowd in Washington.
Clinton Portis looks solid
On the few highlight runs I got to see of Clinton Portis he looked good against one of the better run defenses in football. On the night Clinton rushed 5 times for 26 yards and looks ready to start the season strong just like in 2008.
