Texans vs Vikings: Adrian Peterson Breaks a Long One | Player Rankings

The Vikings and Texans faced off in the last game of the third week of the preseason. This game had interesting written all over it as both of these teams have exciting players.
Adrian Peterson Scores on First Carry
On the opening drive of the game Adrian Peterson broke loose against the Texans suspect defense and went 75 yards for a touchdown. This season I believe we will see Adrian do more of this as he now has a quarterback that defenses will respect.
Peterson also had a reception for eight yards in the first half as Brett Favre seems content checking the ball down to his running backs. Brett also hit Chester Taylor for two receptions as one of those went for a 28 yard catch and run touchdown.
Look for Favre to use his running backs in the passing game often in the first half of the season as he gets to know his receivers better. This should help Peterson’s stats in PPR leagues as he only had 21 receptions a season ago.
Schaub Hurts Ankle and Slaton Scores
Matt Schaub didn’t have a great game as the Vikings applied decent pressure on his in the first half. On the Matt’s last drive he ran for a first down but was seen favoring his ankle after the play.
Fortunately for the Texans, Matt was able to finish the drive and drove the team down for a Steve Slaton touchdown run. After the drive Schaub was seen on the injury table but he should be fine for the start of the season.
Dan Orlovsky Hooks Up with Andre Johnson
I’m not a big Dan Orlovsky fan but he did show he was able to keep Calvin Johnson fantasy value solid with the Lions a season ago. Tonight Dan had no problems hooking up with Andre Johnson in the first drive of the second half.

If Schaub should go down for a stretch of time one has to believe that Andre’s fantasy value should stay strong even if his starting quarterback should go down.
