Titans vs Browns: Braylon Edwards Scores Touchdown | Player Rankings
This week the Browns head coach Eric Mangini started Brady Quinn in the offense as last week we saw mostly Derek Anderson. On the other side of the football I was interested to see that Justin Gage had a strong showing now that Nate Washington is out of the lineup with an injury.
Brady Quinn Should Start Week One
I’ve been saying that Brady needs to be the Browns starting quarterback all offeseason and it looks like after today performance he should get the job. Today Quinn played good and has played well for the entire preseason.
What I liked most from Quinn today is that he and Braylon Edwards finally hooked up for a touchdown.
Braylon had a good day as he had three catches for 51 yards and the 20 yard touchdown catch. I didn’t watch the game but I’m assuming that he was lined up against pro bowl corner Cortland Finnegan of the Titans the entire time.
If this was in fact the case than this performance was even more impressive as he took on one of the best and beat him in coverage.
Edwards has all the tools (except for the hands) to be a great fantasy football wide receiver. We obviously know this from his performance in 2007 when he had 16 touchdowns on the season.
This season I look for Braylon to have a good bounce back year as he has been more focused in offseason. Now he just needs to get better a catching the football.
Justin Gage Impresses
Nate Washington may be slowed coming out (lower leg injury) of the gates this season as the team has reported this week he might miss a few games, to start the year.
With Nate out of the lineup Kerry Collins looked Justin Gage’s way like he used to a season ago down the stretch. Justin had 6 catches for 57 yards and a touchdown in the game.
We will get to see this duo early in the regular season as the Titans will play the early Thursday night opening game against the Steelers. If Gage has a good game in the first week than you might want to use him early on in the year when he plays easy matchups.
