Vikings vs Chiefs: Brett Favre Returns | Player Rankings
The Vikings and Chiefs faced off in the second week of the preseason as Brett Favre took the field for the first time. While all the talk in the media was about Favre it was Tarvaris Jackson and the Chiefs quarterback and receiver connection that was most note worthy in this contest.
Favre starts Tarvaris Jackson Impresses
Brett Favre started the game but only completed one pass attempt in his short work on the night. It’s hard to expect Brett to have a stat line better than this when the guy has only been in camp for a couple of days. Next week we should see a better showing and hopefully receiver Bernard Berrian will be back in a few weeks as well.
While Brett didn’t do much it was Tarvaris Jackson’s night to shine in the Minnesota offense as he had an impressive stat line of 12 of 15 passing for 202 yards and two touchdowns. Some believe the Vikings may end up trading Jackson as it looks like they want to keep Sage Rosenfels as Brett’s backup.
If Jackson is to be traded his stock went up tonight with an impressive game against the Chiefs.
Matt Cassel and Dwayne Bowe Hook Up for a Touchdown
Last week Dwayne Bowe came off the bench against the Texans and didn’t work with Matt Cassel in the first team offense. Bowe stat line that week was strong but his performance tonight was what fantasy football owner really wanted to see.
Cassel looked for Bowe a good amount of the time as they hooked up three times for 37 yards and a touchdown. If Matt and Dwayne continue to have success next week than the fantasy football ranking for Dwayne is going to be much stronger than it was just a week ago, when Bowe was playing with the third string.
