Colts vs Dolphins: Pierre Garcon is On the Rise | NFL Player Rankings
The Dolphins were looking for their first win of the year but Peyton Manning and Pierre Garcon stole it away. Miami controlled the football through most of the game, with the wildcat offense. For all their dominance on the ground, they couldn’t produce the big plays to win the game at the end.
Ronnie Brown and the Wildcat
The Dolphins pounded the football with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams as they posted 132 yards on the ground in the first half. For the game Miami’s dynamic duo had 43 carries for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
In most weeks this would have easily been enough to come out with a victory but tonight the defense just could hold the lead.
It looks like Brown is going to get enough work in this two man backfield to be an every week starter. I figured he would have a big year but was concerned by last weeks results.
Look for Brown to have a fine contract season in 2009.
Peyton Manning Steals a Win
Manning started the game off with a bang as he found his tight end Dallas Clark for an 80 yard touchdown pass to start the game. For the night Manning had two touchdowns and 303 yards on only 14 completions.
The Colts were on the sidelines for most of the game as the Dolphins pounded out the yardage on the ground.
On the Colts last drive of the game Manning threw a quick pass to second year receiver Pierre Garcon, and he took it the distance for a 48 yard touchdown catch.
It looks like Garcon is very capable of filling Anthony Gonzalez’s shoe for now so this is a great sign for Manning’s fantasy value.
Look for Garcon as a nice fantasy waiver pickup this week.
