Dallas Clark Should Continue Strong Play | NFL Player Rankings
Indianapolis Colts’ tight end Dallas Clark has been an NFL fantasy football star for a few years now. This talented first round pick out of Iowa has been one of the staples of Peyton Manning’s great offenses for the past 7 years.
In the past two seasons Clark has had his greatest production of his career as he had 11 touchdowns in 2007 and had 77 receptions for 848 yards in 2008.
As great as those numbers are for a tight end, I believe Clark may have his greatest season of all this year.
The Colts Have Lost Marvin Harrison Before
Many analysts in the NFL have wondered if the Colts’ offense could still be great now that Marvin Harrison is gone from the team. This question burns me up because we have all seen how this offense can run without Harrison before.
In 2007, Harrison played only five games as he had a knee injury that cost him most of the season.
That year Manning still threw for over 4,000 yards and had 34 total touchdowns. As mentioned before, Clark had a career high 11 touchdowns to go with 58 receptions and 616 yards.
This year the Colts’ offense is in the same situation it was back in ’07 with no Harrison, and a young inexperienced, No.2 receiver. In ’07 that receiver was the rookie Anthony Gonzalez and this season it is second year man Pierre Garcon.
In this situation Manning tends to lean on Clark more as he becomes the true No. 2 receiving option.
Not only will Manning lean on his tight end like he did against the Dolphins ( 7 catches, 183 yards and a touchdown) but the Colts also have a very nice passing schedule this season.
- Wk 3- @ Cardinals
- Wk 4- Seahawks
- Wk 5- @ Titans
- Wk 6- Bye Week
- Wk 7- @ Rams
- Wk 8- 49ers
- Wk 9- Texans
- Wk 10- Patriots
- Wk 11- @ Ravens
- Wk 12- @ Texans
- Wk 13- Titans
- Wk 14- Broncos
- Wk 15-@ Jaguars
- Wk 16- Jets
Out of this schedule, there are four games I can see that before the season started would have been hard games.
Those games would have been against the Titans (2 games), Ravens and Jets.
The Titans, so far this season, have the worst defense in football against the pass. The Ravens are a good defense but Manning and the Colts have killed this team over the years.
This leaves the Jets as the one true legitimate game that, on paper, should be a hard matchup. That game is not until week 16 and many things can change henceforward until then.
Fantasy Football Rankings for Dallas Clark
Assuming Clark stays healthy, I believe he is truly in line for his greatest season as an NFL football player. Look for Clark to remain as one of the best tight end options in fantasy football for the 2009 season.
If you have Clark on your team, then sit back and enjoy as this should be a fine season.
