Fantasy Football Information: Glen Coffee to Start for 49ers
The 49ers lost their star running back Frank Gore for the next couple of weeks due to an injury against the Vikings. After Gore left the game, San Francisco turned over the running duties to rookie Glen Coffee.
Coffee impressed the 49ers in the preseason as he displayed an ability to take the ball and get stronger as the game goes on.
This spry youngster from Alabama won’t blow you away with his speed, but he is a very good technical runner. In August, I was impressed with his abilities to hold onto the football and almost always make yardage on every run.
Last week the 49ers ran Coffee 22 times, and he is clearly the teams feature back when Gore is out of the lineup. This is a rare quality for a running back to have as so many teams use two or three running backs a game.
Not only will Coffee receive over 20 carries against the Rams this week, but he has good hands as well. This ability makes him even more valuable in PPR fantasy football leagues.
Fantasy Football Information for Coffee
In the next two weeks Coffee should get the feature duties as Gore will be out until after the teams week six bye. Both matchups will be at home against the Rams and the Falcons.
Look for Coffee to be a great No.2 fantasy running back option for the next two weeks. The 49ers are a heavy run first offense, and they will ride this cup of Coffee all the way to victory.
