Giants: 2009 NFL Regular Season Schedule | Fantasy Football Rankings
The New York Giants 2009 NFL Regular Season Schedule
Last year the Giants got off to a very strong start in the season but after they lost receiver Plaxico Burress, defenses stopped respecting their abilities down the field and the team suffered.
This season Eli Manning has a lot of young talented receivers but does not have one go to guy in the offense. If this team hopes to go deep in the playoffs than one of his receivers will need to step up and fill Burress’s shoes.
Below are three sections of interest that are worth paying attention to for fantasy owners coming into the season for this team. First we have listed our fantasy players which we believe are worth paying attention to this season.
Next is strength of schedule against the run, pass and points against. Lastly we have a few games selected that will be key in telling how this team will preform for the 2009 season.
vs Run 4th Hardest Schedule
vs Pass 6th Hardest Schedule
vs Points Given Up 11th Hardest Schedule
The Giants have a difficult schedule vs the run this season. No matter the schedule it will be vitally important that Jacobs and Bradshaw carry this team for at least the first half of the season, as their young receiver mature.
No doubt the Giants defense had best be strong once again if this team hopes to win the division in consecutive seasons.
Games of Interest
Weeks 1 and 2: Right out of the gates the Giants will face to division games as they face the Redskins at home and travel to Dallas to play the Cowboys. I would expect the Giants to handle the Redskins just like they did last year in the home opener.
The second game should be a hard fought one as the Cowboys will be playing their first regular season game in their new stadium. If New York can take both of these games than they will be in the drivers seat, to win the NFC Eastern Division.
2009 Football Projection
Right now I have the Giants as the winner of this division as they are a very balanced team. They may not have a true number one receiver on the team but they do have a lot of talented pass catchers.
While this team may win the division with the team they have it will be vitally important that one of their receivers becomes the go to guy, if they plan on going deep in the playoffs.
