Baltimore Ravens v Atlanta Falcons

The Ravens decided to give all their starters the night off, while the Falcons had theirs play the first drive. With so many starters out it was time to see what each teams backups could do before we get the season started.

John Beck Flourishes in Starting Opportunity

In John Beck’s first season with the Ravens (last two years with Dolphins) he has shown why he is a worthy backup for Joe Flacco. In this game he was 16 of 28 passing for 232 yards and two touchdown passes.

Beck also flashed an ability to move outside of the pocket as he had 4 carries for 23 yards rushing.

This young quarterback played the entire ball game and proved that he does have some ability should the team need him in a pinch at some point this season.

Falcons Report

Not much happened on the Falcons side of the football in this one as the starters played very little. I was surprised that running back Michael Turner played in the game as many big time runners don’t play the fourth week.

The reason for that is simple as one only has to point to the Jaguars tonight and see that Maurice Jones-Drew suffered an injured leg in his final contest.

Fortunately nothing happened to Turner and he has a clean bill of health going into the season.
