Washington Redskins v Jacksonville Jaguars

Most of the time the fourth preseason game does not bring out much big news on star fantasy players. But tonight in the Redskins vs Jaguars game we did see a notable injury take place.

Maurice Jones-Drew Injures Leg

In this preseason the the Jaguars played their starting lineup as Maurice Jones-Drew had three carries and three receptions. During his time on the field, one of his touches of the ball was meet with a Redskins defender hitting Drew low and injuring his leg.

From the sidelines it was not thought to be serious but head coach Jack Del Rio did say after the game that Drew was ticked off about the low hit and want to grab the guy that did it.

Right now Drew is scheduled to have an MRI on his leg and the early analysis on his injury is that he may be limited in the first regular season game. Unfortunately for fantasy owners Drew has one of his better matchups next week when he faces the Colts.

Can Maurice Jones-Drew Stay Healthy?

Many PPR fantasy leagues are drafting MJD as the No.1 overall pick in the draft and I’ve been critical about this all summer long. Don’t get me wrong Drew is a talent and has the “potential” to be a great fantasy feature back.

Right now we still need to see if he is able to carry the load and stay health all year long as the feature runner. Last year many fantasy owner were high on Marion Barber because Julius Jones was gone form the team and Barber would be the feature back.

In the end Barber was injured in November and was a shell of his former self by December. Barber couldn’t hold up and now we are already seeing Drew have health issues before the regular season starts.

Redskins Report

The Redskins did have a decent amount of their starters in on offense but Clinton Portis didn’t play.

One interesting thing I will be watching for is if Devin Thomas does in fact become the No.2 starter in the offense. He has been knocked for not being focused in the past couple weeks and some feel Malcolm Kelly would be a better fit in this offense, right now.
