Steelers vs Panthers: Mike Goodson to Play This Year | Player Rankings
Both the Steelers and the Panthers had starters on the field to begin the game tonight. While both both teams have star players on offense if was the Steelers special teams and defense that stole the show.
On the other side of the ball, the Panthers young running back Mike Goodson continued his successful preseason and may play much more than people think this year.
Stefan Logan Takes Punt Back
In a fight for a long shot to make the Steelers roster this year Stefan Logan had a great run back for a touchdown against the Panthers. Not only did he have a run back but it was in the early first quarter of the game.
Logan won’t make this team as a 28 year old running back from the Canadian Football League on running alone. But he may have won a job in the special teams area, as he has had a good preseason on ST.
If this runner can make the team and ends up handling punt return duty’s, one has to feel a bit better about the Steelers defense / special teams coming into the fantasy football season.
Even if Logan does not make the team this defense is stacked and will have another very good year, as the team should win the division once again.
The main news for the Panthers in this game and in recent days is at the running back position. Young runner Mike Goodson had a good game again tonight as he rushed for 79 yards on 15 carries.
This young runner may have to play much more than the Panthers had hoped before camp began. The main reason for this is because star runner Jonathan Stewart’s achilles tendon is not doing any better, since resting it this summer.
Stewart has hardly practiced with the team since OTA’s began and now the team believes he may not be able to play week one against the Eagles. If Stewart should be sidelined for awhile than Goodson will be the Panthers No.2 runner behind DeAngelo Williams.
