Titans vs Steelers: Santonio Holmes has Big Night | Football Rankings
In what started out as a defensive grudge match, ended up being a throwing extravaganza for the Steelers and Titans. Until almost the end of the first half both teams did not score. By the end of the half both teams were tied seven all.
In the end, the Steelers won the game in overtime, as Ben Roethlisberger led the team to victory.
Steelers go Pass Crazy
Early in the game the Steelers tried to run Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall but had no luck. By the end of the half, they decided to play a pass heavy style offense. This resulted in a very nice 34 yard touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes.
For the night Holmes had 9 receptions for 131 yards and the touchdown. Roethlisberger and Hines Ward also had solid games as well.
Ward had 8 receptions for 103 yards and Roethlisberger had 43 pass attempts for 363 yards passing.
If the Steelers fail to run the football as they did tonight than this team will go pass heavy.
It looks like the Steelers passing game has solid value after all.
Justin Gage Looks Good
Titans top receiver Justin Gage produced a fine game with 7 catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. It is easy to see that Kerry Collins still favors Gage in the passing game as he looked his way all night.
Rookie receiver Kenny Britt also had a nice showing with 4 receptions for 85 yards as well.
While receiver Nate Washington did not start (recovering from injury) but he did play, and that is a good sign for him going forward.
