Colts: Donald Brown vs Joseph Addai | NFL Football Rankings
It’s time to say that Joseph Addai’s short run as a feature running back is gone. Last year Addai had problems finding the football field and was surprised when the Colts drafted another runner in the first round. Really?
While Addai may have been surprised, most fantasy football owners probably were not. In fact, many fantasy football owners probably welcomed this move, because they don’t trust Addai staying healthy.
Enter Donald Brown
Donald Brown was drafted in the first round out of Connecticut and is a perfect fit for Indianapolis’s offense. Not only does this young runner have a nice burst of speed, but he is a very good pass catcher.
Brown has at least one reception in all four games this season and showed his speed on a 72 yard reception against the Cardinals on Sunday Night Football.
Not only is this kid a strong compliment to Addai but he is also splitting time in the red zone and has two rushing touchdowns. This is a part of the Colts running game, I thought Addai would just about dominate in 2009.
With Brown having so much success it will be hard for Addai to keep Brown off the field.
Is Addai Even a Flex Play?
Much has been made about Brown’s fantasy football ranking this week in fantasy football circles. On many major sites, they are recommending you at least have Brown on your team.
While it won’t hurt to have Brown on your team, I still see Addai as the main runner to have on your fantasy football team from the Colts.
This season Addai is still receiving more touches in the running and passing game. He also has more touchdowns than his younger counterpart.
Look for Addai to be a good flex play, most weeks, for your fantasy football team. The Colts have an easy schedule for most of the year and Addai should be productive throughout.
