Bengals- Lions: Calvin Johnson is Playing Well | NFL Fantasy Football Rankings
This game was all about the return of Cedric Benson to the starting lineup for the Bengals. On the other side of the football, it was nice to see Calvin Johnson give fantasy football owners solid production in this game.
Cedric Benson Returns
Benson didn’t run the football for longer than an eleven yard run, but he did carry the football 36 times for 110 yards. Coming into this game many fantasy owners wondered if Larry Johnson would eat into Benson’s work load but Johnson only carried the football twice.
While it was nice to see Benson back on the field, I hope the Bengals don’t rush him 36 times a week for the rest of the season. That amount of production is a lot of work for any player to handle, and you can wear a runner out.
Next week Benson goes up against the Vikings’ defense, and I’m sure he probably won’t receive a lot of work in that contest.
Chad Ochocinco Has Big Game
For the past few week’s Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco has been slow in his fantasy production. This week Ochocinco had a strong game with nine receptions for 137 yards receiving and a touchdown catch.
This was a very nice game from the veteran receiver, and I would suspect he should have a good game next week against the Vikings. Hopefully, Ochocinco’s production helped your fantasy team into the playoffs as this week was the final game of the regular season from many leagues.
Calvin Johnson Makes Big Plays
This season has been a big disappointment for Calvin Johnson and for fantasy football owners that selected him with a high draft pick. Most of Johnson’s problems have come because of injury and that is a problem that will hurt his fantasy value for next season.
For this game Johnson had his second big fantasy game in his past three games. For the contest Johnson had six catches for 123 yards and a long touchdown catch.
As long as Johnson is healthy for the rest of the season, I would expect him to finish up the season strong. Next year Matthew Stafford will be in his second year as a pro and I expect Johnson to have a bounce back fantasy year.
