Chargers- Titans: Philip Rivers Blasts Titans | NFL Fantasy Football Rankings
The Chargers and Titans clashed in a big game for both teams on Christmas night. While the Titans started out moving the football, they quickly fell apart with turnovers and penalties and were routed 42 to 17.
Philip Rivers and the Chargers Win Tenth Straight
The Chargers have been on a roll since losing to the Broncos on Monday night football in week six. Since that time, the Chargers have won their last ten games in a row and have now clinched the number two seed in the AFC.
If for some reason the Colts should lose in their first playoff game than the Chargers will have an opportunity to host the AFC championship game in San Diego.
In this game, the Chargers just mowed down the Titans secondary as Philip Rivers completed 21 of his 24 passes on the game for 264 yards and two touchdowns.
His first touchdown pass went to Antonio Gates, who now has a career high 1,145 yards receiving in a season. Not only that but Gates is also scoring touchdowns on a regular basis with five in his last five games.
The Chargers didn’t just throw the football well, they also had a productive running game again as LaDainian Tomlinson had two touchdown runs and the team had 166 total yards on the ground.
Look for the Chargers to have a very spirited playoff run as the clock is ticking on this teams chances to win a Super Bowl.
Chris Johnson Has Another Strong Game
Even though the Titans were mauled in this game, Chris Johnson found a way to give fantasy football owners another terrific game. On the night, Johnson ran for 142 yards and a touchdown, not to mention 37 extra yards in the passing game.
Johnson now has a chance to not only break Marshall Faulk’s total yards from scrimmage in a single year, but go over 2,000 yards rushing for the season.
Next week the Titans face the Seahawks and I have no doubts that Johnson will do those two very things against that pathetic team.
Look for Johnson to be the hands down number one fantasy football pick in all drafts next year.
