Jaguars- Texans: David Garrard Lead Jags to a Win | NFL Fantasy Football Rankings

The Jaguars and Texans came into this game both needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Jacksonville got out to an early lead and held on in the end to win the game and move their record to seven and five.

David Garrard Manages the Win

Jaguars starting quarterback David Garrard isn’t a flashy quarterback and isn’t much of a fantasy football option, but today he led his team to a victory. For the game Garrard threw for 238 yards and two touchdown passes.

While Garrard had a solid game, he failed to find Mike Sims-Walker for the second week in a row as Walker only had one reception for the game.

Even Maurice Jones-Drew didn’t do much in this game as he had only 76 yards rushing and six yards receiving.

Next week the Jaguars play the Dolphins and fantasy owners will need Walker and Drew to produce in the first round of the fantasy playoffs.

Josh Scobee Bounces Back

The Jaguars veteran kicker Josh Scobee as he made three field goals in this contest. Scobee had a good start to the season but failed to produce solid production in the middle of the season. Stay away from Scobee for the rest of the year as the Jaguars are too up and down for this kicker to be counted on.

Texans Lose Fourth Game In a Row

Early in the game quarterback Matt Schaub left injured as he hurt his shoulder. While Schaub was able to come back in the second half of the game, his absence in the first half probably cost his team a victory.

The Texans are now out of the playoffs as they have lost too many games to truly come back and make a playoff spot. Look for the Texans to fire head coach Gary Kubiack this off season as he has not lived up to the expectations that his talented teams should be living up to.

Right now this team needs to continue to add pieces on their defense and bring a new energy into the locker room to win big games.

Kris Brown Fails To Produce

Kris Brown was one of my favorite top ten fantasy kickers coming into this season. I figured the Texans would have a good year and everyone knows they have a great offense. Put it all together and Brown should have been a good kicker to have.

If you look at his opportunities this year he should be a reliable fantasy option but he is having his worst season in his career. Now, Brown will have to put something positive together to keep his job for 2010.
