Panthers- Buccaneers: Jonathan Stewart Burns Up Bucs | NFL Fantasy Football Rankings
The Panthers were without DeAngelo Williams because of an ankle injury that bothered him all week long. With Williams out the Panthers figured to lean on Jonathan Stewart for a victory.
Jonathan Stewart Runs Well
In a great matchup for fantasy owners Stewart ran the football 26 times for 120 yards and a touchdown score. The touchdown for Stewart marked the only TD the Panthers had for the entire game as they converted three field goals other than that.
With this performance by Stewart, it is clear to see that he is fully capable of being a fantasy stud if given a chance to be the full time starter.
Unfortunately, for Stewart, Williams has stayed healthy for the last couple years until this particular week.
We will have to find out if Williams will be available for next week still, but I would be surprised if he is out. Look for Stewart to be a great fantasy play next week if Williams is, in fact, out for that game.
Matt Moore Wins First Start
The Panthers had a new quarterback under center, but you would have never known it from a fantasy perspective. Carolina’s game plan was just about the same with Moore as it used to be with Jake Delhomme.
I’m not sure if Moore will see his opportunities to throw increase but at least he did find Steve Smith for a 66 yard catch during the game. If Moore can continue his chemistry with Smith than fantasy owners may continue to get some production from Smith to close the season out.
John Kasay Comes Though
John Kasay may be in his 19th season in the NFL but he can still produce when called upon. In this contest Kasay made all three of his field goal opportunities. If Matt Moore can bring some life to this football team, Kasay could be a good helper down the stretch for your fantasy team.
Freeman to Bryant
One connection that is coming along very nicely for the Buccaneers is rookie quarterback Josh Freeman to receiver Antonio Bryant. Freeman has played very well since becoming the starting quarterback over a month ago.
Today he passed for 321 yards and 116 of those yards went to Bryant. Last week Freeman and Bryant connected for a couple big plays against the Falcons and one of them went for a touchdown catch.
Look for this connection to stay strong as the season moves along.
