Colts-Jets: Peyton Manning Smashes Jets D | NFL Playoff Fantasy Football
If the Colts were going to beat the Jets in this game they were going to have to beat their No.1 pass defense. While the Colts fell behind in the first half, Peyton Manning and the passing game got hot in the second and put the game away.
Collie and Garcon
Until a fourth quarter touchdown catch by tight end Dallas Clark, both Clark and Reggie Wayne were shut down for the entire game.
With Manning’s two star pass catchers in able to get much done, this offense was going to have to rely on youngsters Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon to produce.
Produce they did as both Collie and Garcon had over 100 yards receiving and a touchdown catch each. Truthfully, one of the big reasons why this offense has been so successful this season is because these two receivers have stepped up.
Third year receiver Anthony Gonzalez was supposed to have a breakout year as he was taking over in the starting job that was left behind by Marvin Harrison. Unfortunately, Gonzalez injured his knee in the first game and missed the rest of the season.
Since his absence, both Collie and Garcon have filled the void and that is why this team is headed to the Super Bowl.
Mark Sanchez Plays Strong
The Jets’ rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez had a very strong game as he didn’t turn the football over until the final drive of the game. Early on, he hit Braylon Edwards for a long touchdown catch and followed that up with a touchdown pass to Dustin Keller.
Even though the Jets lost this game, the team and fans have to feel good about their young quarterback’s capabilities to plays in big games.
Unfortunately for the Jets, today was Manning’s game as he threw for over 350 yards and three touchdowns against the Jets top pass defense.
