Vikings- Giants: Brett Favre Goes Off | NFL Fantasy Football Rankings
It looks like the Vikings offensive passing game as taken off once again as Brett Favre and his pass catcher had themselves a day. As nice as it was to see the Vikings finally wake up, it was just as disappointing to see the Giants lay down for a second week in a row.
Where Do the Giants Go From Here?
This season was a terrific year for Eli Manning and Steve Smith as their fantasy football stock is definitely on the rise. The only problem I have with these players is if this team will throw the football next year like they did this year.
The Giants have been known for running the football and playing strong defense as the staple(s) of their franchise. This formula has won this organization championships and many years of winning success.
Sure, the Giants now have a solid passing game with Manning, Smith, Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham but can they win their division and win the big game with this new style of play?
It is this problem that could see the Giants make a strong effort to get the running game going next year and if that means bringing in new talent as the half back position (Brandon Jacobs gone) than so be it.
Look for Manning to be a hands down top ten fantasy quarterback coming into next year but don’t be surprised if his numbers go down a bit.
Vikings Finally Show Up
The Vikings may still end up winning the number two seed in the NFC because of this win. While that is good, this team needs to play more like they did today than the way they played the month leading up to this game, no matter where they play.
At least this team can take a big, roll it up win, going into the playoffs. This is something teams like the Saints and Colts can’t say as those teams are on losing streaks heading into the playoffs.
I expect the Vikings to put up a good fight in the post season, but it still remains to be seen if the Vikings will have Brett Favre back next year.
If the Vikings win the Super Bowl than I would be very surprised if they end up with Favre on their team next year. If the Vikings don’t have Favre than players like Visanthe Shaincoe, Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice will lose fantasy value next year.
