Marc Bulger Packs His Bags

St. Louis Rams v Seattle Seahawks

The final sack in Marc Bulger’s career with the St. Louis Rams probably came today, but it wasn’t to be seen on a football field. Instead Bulger has reportedly packed and sacked all his belongings from the Rams’ facilities because he knows his days are over with his long time team.

If the Rams keep Bulger on the team next year they will have to pay him 8.5 million for the 2010 season. Bulger probably isn’t wroth more than the league veteran minimum now that he has been pounded on for the past four or five years with a horrible offensive line.

Look for the Rams to release Bulger this off-season and go after either a veteran like Michael Vick or possibly draft a quarterback in the first couple rounds. If the Rams select a quarterback with the first pick in the draft, they will probably take Sam Bradford from Oklahoma.

In the second round, they may be able to select Texas Longhorn Colt McCoy as his stock seems to be falling out of the first round.

Whichever way the Rams decided to go, they need to upgrade at the receiver and offensive line area’s of the team. Donnie Avery is a decent young receiver but this team really needs a solid veteran receiver opposite to him.

On the offensive line, this team needs to continue to gel and get their younger offensive linemen to become reliable pass protectors. Needless to say that whomever takes over for Bulger in St. Louis is probably going to have their hands full in 2010.
