Saints vs. Colts: New Orleans Wins Super Bowl | NFL Playoff Fantasy Football

Sports News - February 08, 2010

In a fast moving game that saw the Indianapolis Colts only receive eight possessions on offense, the Saints pulled out the Super Bowl victory in the fourth quarter.

On the Saints final offensive drive of the game Drew Brees found tight end Jeremy Shockey for the go ahead touchdown. With a two point conversion to Lance Moore the Saints were up a touchdown with just under six minutes left in the game.

On the Colts next drive the Saints’ defense was up to stopping them as corner back Tracy Porter picked off Peyton Manning because of a poorly run route by Reggie Wayne.
Not only did Porter pick Manning off, but he took the playback for a touchdown (Saints defense had eight touchdowns in the regular season) and that put the Saints up by two touchdowns with around three minutes left in the game.

The score would remain right where it ended with the Porter touchdown as the Saints beat the Colts 31 to 17.

Now, the Saints have their first Lombardi trophy in franchise history and it looks like the Saints have the personnel to win another one in the next few years.

Quarterback Drew Brees also should be a shoe in for the Hall of Fame if he can string together another three solid years in his career.

Congratulations New Orleans.
