Steve Breaston Fantasy Value On the Rise | Free Agent Projections

Seattle Seahawks v Arizona Cardinals

As Steve Breaston enters his fourth year in the NFL, it may be his time to ascend to the starting lineup. Soon, the Cardinals are expected to use a tender offer to lockup Breaston for a contract of almost three million dollars for the 2010 season.

It’s worth noting that Arizona isn’t known for being liberal with money so the fact that they are willing to give Breaston three million for next year should be another indication that Anquan Boldin is moving to another team.

If Boldin does, in fact, leave  the team this offseason it would be a clear indication that Breaston is going to start opposite Larry Fitzgerald for the up coming season.

Even with Kurt Warner now retired I could see Breaston reaching over 1,000 yards this up coming year with Matt Leinart under center. As long as Leinart can play adequate football and third option Early Doucet doesn’t become a major factor, Breaston should get consistent opportunities in this offense.

While Breaston could post strong yardage numbers, he will need to improve on his three touchdowns a year average (over the past two years) if he is going to be a fantasy worthy starter. Because of this flaw in Breaston’s game, fantasy football owners should be able to select Breaston as a cheap mid to late round pick at many fantasy drafts.

If Boldin is gone, keep tabs on Breaston as one of the better sleeper receivers for the 2010 fantasy football season.
