Keith Bulluck & Kyle Vanden Bosch To Test Free Agent Market

Oakland Raiders v Tennessee Titans

It looks like the Tennessee Titans are content with relying on their offense to win games this up coming season. Last year the Titans lost their top defensive player in tackle Albert Haynesworth because he was due to become one of the highest paid players in all of football.

This off-season it looks like the Titans may end up parting ways with two more valuable veteran defensive players again. Both linebacker Keith Bulluck and defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch are primed to test the free agent market, and it looks like the Titans are intent on letting them shop around.

Bulluck has had one of the better careers in Titans’ franchise history (including the Oilers) but after a nasty torn acl injury this past season, the team is understandably concerned about the 33 year old linebackers health. Vanden Bosch is now 31 years old and hasn’t produced over four and a half sack in either of the past two seasons.

While both players have their concerns for the sake of production, one area that will hurt this defense is the loss of both of these players experience and leadership.

Just look at the New England Patriots for last year as they parted ways with key veterans like Mike Vrabel, Richard Seymour and Tedy Bruschi (retirement).

The loss of these players hurt the Patriots on defense and caused their head coach Bill Belichick to roll the dice on offense to win key games.

Now, if the Titans do, in fact, lose two more key veterans on their defense, one has to wonder if they will be able to return to the top twelve defenses in football. For a team that is coming off of a poor defensive output (ranked 28th in points given up and 31st in pass defense) one has to believe that this team will need to score quite often if they don’t add some solid veteran talent in free agency.
