CB Antonio Cromartie Traded to Jets | 2010 NFL Free Agency

San Diego Chargers v Arizona Cardinals

Rumors swirled this past month about where the San Diego Chargers would trade their troubled corner back Antonio Cromartie. Finally, we have an official answer as the team traded Cromartie away to the Jets for a conditional third round pick in 2011.

Heavy speculation was that the Chargers were in the market for a running back, and I find it interesting that the Jets didn’t just give them Thomas Jones. Since the team is rumored to be releasing the veteran, they could have let him go to San Diego and kept their third round pick.

All I can gather from that is either the Chargers wanted a draft pick more than a runner, or they didn’t want Jones in compensation.

If Cromartie can get his head together and play well, the Jets will have one dynamite starting tandem in Cromartie and super star Darrelle Revis. That said, expect offenses to challenge Cromartie all season long as they won’t want to throw the football towards Revis.
