Larry Johnson Signs With Redskins | 2010 NFL Free Agency

Oakland Raiders v Kansas City Chiefs

Will Larry Johnson be worth a darn in Washington or is this just another stop on his way out of the NFL? Either way Johnson is now a Redskin as he signed a three year deal for 12 million dollars.

While Johnson may have a chance for some success in Mike Shanahan’s zone blocking offensive scheme, he will have to compete with a few different runners. His most notable competition will projected starter Clinton Portis and we all know that he can play well in Shanahan’s style.

Beyond that, Shanahan is going to draft a mid to late round running back in this years draft and young running backs tend to do well in this system. Add it all up and your probably going to be holding onto Johnson for a few games of fun and then disappointment the rest of the way.

In the end, I would expect Johnson to help the Redskins as he did with the Cincinnati Bengals before Cedric Benson came back and Johnson tried to show up his former team on the field.

From a fantasy perspective, Johnson will probably be a late round pick at your fantasy draft but, unless Portis is injured, Johnson isn’t worth having on your team.
