2010 NFL Combine - Day Two

Gerhart Posts Good Showing

Stanford running back Toby Gerhart needed a good showing at the combine as scouts seem to be doubting his abilities. In the 40 he wasn’t the fastest runner but then again no one expected him to be. Gerhart’s game is sound and it looks like he’s put together a good enough combine to quite some of his doubters.

In the 40 yard dash Gerhart had a best time of 4.53 and that is likely enough to keep him at tailback instead of teams wanting to make him a full back. Being a full back probably wasn’t going to happen anyway as Gerhart said he wants to play running back.

In the vertical, Gerhart came away with a respectable fifth place finish. These solid totals plus his nice bench press should make Gerhart a solid lock to be drafted on the second night of this years’ draft. In previous years a second night selection would mean a 6th or 7th round pick but this year the NFL is messing everyone over.

This year they have decided to have the first round on Thursday night, the second and third on Friday night and the rest on Saturday.

Dorin Dickerson….Again

It doesn’t seem to matter if it’s the vertical jump, long jump or running the 40 yard dash, Dickerson just dominates the tight end pack. With a respectable bench press total Dickerson is going to be a very hot pickup for any team that goes after him in the second or third round.
