RB Willie Parker Joins Washington Redskins
The Steelers balked on signing veteran running back Willie Parker after rumors the team was interested in signing him to backup Rashard Mendenhall. Now, Parker is headed to Washington to compete with Clinton Portis and Larry Johnson in an open competition.
Just a few years ago Parker was a solid feature running back in the NFL, and now he can’t even nail down a respectable committee job. It’s amazing how fast a running backs value can change in the NFL when they hit the wall in their career.
Maybe Parker will keep a job into the regular season with the Redskins, but if he is released, he should be picked up at some point this year.
Still, just the fact that Parker took this opportunity should let fantasy owners know that he’s not worth paying attention too, unless he falls on a team with running backs that have injuries in front of him.
