Rob Gronkowski & Aaron Hernandez Will Help New England Patriots Offense

Washington v Arizona

The New England Patriots needed to add some more offensive weapons with Wes Welker recovering from a bad knee injury and Randy Moss wearing down physically. Some thought they would add a receiver in the second round but I’m happy they retooled at tight end instead. With the loss of tight end Ben Watson, the Patriots needed to give Tom Brady an option or two to spread out the offense.

The additions of Rob Gronkowski in the second round and Aaron Hernandez later, should improve Brady’s fantasy value for the up coming season. Look for Gronkowski to be the early top receiving target but he may suffer from injury problems as he had back surgery awhile back and missed a lot of time at Arizona.

Hernandez fell in the draft because he had problems with substance abuse at Florida and teams were concerned that he might continue those issues at the pro level. If Gronkowski goes down, look for Hernandez to be a favorite option for Brady as he has better receiving skills than Gronkowski.
