Can Alex Smith Play Winning Football?
The San Francisco 49ers aren’t that far away from giving the Cardinals a run for their money in the NFC West. Choosing wisely at this years’ draft with the teams two first round picks, could make the difference for the organization reaching the post season.
If the 49ers have hopes of heading to the playoffs this year, quarterback Alex Smith needs to take another step in his progression as a quarterback. Last year Smith played some of his best football in his career as he was more decisive on the field.
Still, Smith suffered from playing extremely conservative football in the final month of the season and the passing game became predictable.
To succeed this season Smith needs to play at a confident level and attempt more passes down the field. Fortunately, for the team, when Smith did go down the field last season he had good success.
Patrick Willis Lead The Ship
This defensive unit is led by the best young middle linebacker in all of football and his name is Patrick Willis. While Willis has been a strong producer since his rookie season, the players around him are better than ever and this unit could do some damage in 2010.
If the secondary can play at a respectable level, the 49ers defense will be a good group to have in fantasy football.
