WR Ted Ginn Jr. Traded To 49ers

Oakland Raiders v Miami Dolphins

The San Francisco 49ers were determined to find a respectable option to in the return game. Many felt the team might make a move for a return man in the draft and would consider select Clemson running back C.J. Spiller.

That pick won’t be necessary now as the 49ers have landed former Dolphins first round pick in Ted Ginn Jr. for a fifth round selection in this years draft.

With this addition, the 49ers have one of the better return men in football, and they have a very nice speed option as a slot receiver. Josh Morgan is expected to keep his starting job as he continues to show improvement to the coaching staff.

While Dolphin fans seemed to be down on Ginn from the start, the 49ers will welcome his abilities with open arms.

Fans that didn’t want to see the 49ers waste a high pick for a return man (including me) now have the comfort of knowing the team can focus on much bigger need areas with their top draft picks.

This addition will also help quarterback Alex Smith as it gives him another talented weapon in the passing game. With Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree, Josh Morgan, Frank Gore and now Ted Ginn Jr. the 49ers have a very nice core of offensive weapons.

Since you get points on kick and punt touchdowns for fantasy defenses this move makes the 49ers group more attractive. Look for the 49ers defense as a very nice sleeper defense for 2010.

Alex Smith probably won’t be drafted this summer in fantasy football leagues but don’t be surprised if he’s on teams by seasons end.
