Chicago Bears Training Camp

After the NFL draft, teams crank up their rookie and OTA (organized team activities) camps in May and June to get their players prepped for the up coming 2010 season. This time of year can be often over looked by many a fantasy football owner but at this time, young stars and unknown names come out and impress their coaches to challenge for future starting jobs come September.

Below we have the Chicago Bears projected OTA schedule for May and June. Come back and check in for information that we find key for the success or concern for the Bears future success.

OTA Schedule

June 2-3, June 7-10, June 14-17, June 21-24

April 30-May 2 (rookies), May 21-23

Bears OTA – Mini Camp Notes

May 6th, Coaches Push Receiver Devin Aromashodu

Wide receivers coach Darryl Drake is pushing receiver Devin Aromashodu to be a more consistent player this offseason in what should be his first strong opportunity to start. Aromashodu had a very nice end to the 2009 season when he became Jay Cutler’s top target.

If Aromashodu can take the next step he will be a clear fantasy sleeper and should be the teams top target in 2010.

May 7th, Mike Martz Likes A Tight End?

Some are trying to hype that Martz is excited to use Greg Olsen and Desmond Clark in his offense but fantasy owners shouldn’t be fooled. Martz has never utilized tight ends well and he sure didn’t do much with Vernon Davis a couple years ago. Don’t expect a great year from Olsen once again.

May 16th, Devin Hester Working In The Slot And On The Outside

Early in the offseason, talk floated around that Devin Hester would take a reduced role as a receiver to focus on his return game. So far in OTA’s it looks like the team is still committed to using Hester on a regular basis at receiver as he is lineup in the slot and on the outside.

This shouldn’t be that surprising as it is good to move a player like Hester around and make defenses think about where he’s at. However, this news doesn’t mean fantasy owners should go rushing to select him on draft day.
