Seattle Seahawks: OTA Mini Camps – Schedule
After the NFL draft, teams crank up their rookie and OTA (organized team activities) camps in May and June to get their players prepped for the up coming 2010 season. This time of year can be often over looked by many a fantasy football owner but at this time, young stars and unknown names come out and impress their coaches to challenge for future starting jobs come September.
Below we have the Seattle Seahawks projected OTA schedule for May and June. Come back and check in for information that we find key for the success or concern for the Seahawks future success.
OTA Schedule
May 11, May 13, May 18, May 20, May 25, May 27, June 8, June 10, June 15, June 17
April 13-15 (voluntary), April 30-May 2, June 22-24 (voluntary)
Seahawks OTA – Camp Notes
May 11th, Golden Tate Making Plays
Rookie receiver Golden Tate was noted for making more plays than any other rookie in camp so far. Since Tate is the best offensive skill player to come out of the draft for the Seahawks this should be a surprise. Still, expect Tate to get plenty of work in his rookie season.
May 11, Leon Washington 90 Percent
Running back Leon Washington says his leg is 90 percent even though he still can’t participate in practice. Washington suffered a very bad broken fibula injury last October and he will probably be eased into action upon his return.
May 12th, Carlson Fantasy Sleeper and Hasselbeck Taking First Snaps
Matt Hasselbeck is still enjoying first snaps in camp over Charlie Whitehurst as he noted that tight end John Carlson is a fantasy sleeper this season on his twitter. Carlson isn’t a sleeper but he is ready for a potential big year with Chris Baker in to take over his blocking duties.
As long as the Seahawks can keep Carlson running pass patterns he should find success with Hasselbeck or Whitehurst this season.
May 23rd, Trufant Healthy
Marcus Trufant believes that he is 100% healthy after all his back problems over the past few season. If Trufant can stay healthy this will defiently help the Seahawks and get Trufant’s career back on track.
May 28th, Washington PUP, Forsett To Get Football
It looks likely that the Seahawks will place Leon Washington on the PUP list to start training camp in July. The team won’t know if Washington will be ready to start the season for awhile and if he has to be placed on the PUP to start the yer he will miss the first six games. This is a big reason why the Jets traded Washington away at the draft because they weren’t sure if they would have Washington and what he would be able to do when he was healthy.
The coaches are already talking about wanting to make sure Justin Forsett is getting the football this year and LenDale White should be the teams starter and goal line man. Washington is probably not worth a fantasy roster spot this season.
