Mock Draft Player Notes
Terrell Owens
In our latest mock drafts, it is easy to see that many fantasy owners are still skeptical about what Terrell Owens can do for their respective teams. This is understandable as Owens has had a very bad track record with his attitude and is coming off one of his worst seasons of his career.
At this time Owens is going off the boards somewhere around the 8th to 12th round of many standard league drafts. While Owens can bring his problems to a team he also has talent and apparently Carson Palmer still see’s that Owens has speed.
At the Hall of Fame game, annalist Chris Collinsworth noted that when he looked at the tape from Owens in Buffalo last year, he still saw Owens beating his coverage. The main problem for Owens was that the Bills had no offensive line and Trent Edwards was a joke of a quarterback (I threw in the joke part).
Now, Owens is in a much different situation and should be a decent starter throughout the season for your squad. As long as Owens is still landing in the 8th round or so of your draft, I would recommend you nab this talent up.
Just two seasons ago Owens had double digit touchdowns and over 1,000 yards. Remember, he did that with Tony Romo being out for a month and Brad Johnson was horrible in his absence.
Calvin Johnson
Calvin Johnson started out this summer as a decent value pick in many mocks but hype has landed him around the same point as receivers like Larry Fitzgerald and Randy Moss recently. While I do believe Johnson should bounce back this season, I don’t think you should pass on talents like Roddy White for him.
He still has much to prove in his heath and that Matthew Stafford is truly ready to take the next step in his career.
