Lions FS Louis Delmas Suffers Groin Injury | 2010 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook
Some in IDP circles have questioned if Lions’ safety Louis Delmas would continue his success from his rookie season into 2010. While I was willing to back the young talent because of the opportunities he would get on the Lions’ defense, I’m concerned about him after he badly injured his groin in training camp.
In our 2010 IDP cheat sheet rankings we had Delmas as a top ten defensive back, but I would recommend you drop him down to maybe around twenty or less. A groin injury can easily hamper a player all yearlong and IDP fantasy owners need to be cautious about relying on Delmas as their top dog in the backfield.
Since the Lions secondary was going to probably be the worst in football this year, a limited Delmas would only make Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre and Jay Cutler more aggressive in the passing game.
On the bright side, at least it looks like Delmas won’t need surgery on the groin and he may be ready by week one in September. Still, don’t take Delmas as anything more than your No.2 defensive back this season as his injury is a major red flag going forward.
