Positional IDP Rankings: Week 7
One benefit of closely following these rankings is seeing where defenses struggle. The reality here is that if a team is having problems against the run, typically they’ll have more players in front of the defense. Poor rush defenses, such as the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions have at least half their defensive line listed.
Poor pass defenses, such as the Washington Redskins and Arizona Cardinals have multiple players listed at defensive backs.
For a position like linebackers, it’s typically just great defensive playmakers. These guys are involved because they are always around the ball, making tackles.
Take last week’s leading scorers. Pittsburgh’s Lawrence Timmons had 11 total tackles and 2 sacks. The game before that, he had 15 total tackles. E.J. Henderson had nine total tackles, 2 picks and 2 passes defended. He’s also had a safety and forced fumble earlier in the year.
Washington’s LaRon Landry and London Fletcher have a combined 123 total tackles between them. Granted, the Redskins poor defensive play has kept them on the field far too long and for too many plays, but these guys are really getting after it every week. The Redskins have five players amongst the 50 leading tacklers in the whole NFL. No other team has more than three. That’s incredible.
