Week 13 IDP Start’em Sit’em
DT – Gerald McCoy vs Falcons: The Buccaneers defense if playing good football and Gerald McCoy is hot. With three sacks in his last two games, the third overall pick from the 2010 draft is showing his strength by beating double teams and creating pressure. Look for McCoy to be active against the Falcons, even if he doesn’t get a sack on Matt Ryan.
DE – Chris Long @ Cardinals: The Rams have been playing respectable all yearlong, and now they look to be the favorite to win the NFC West for 2010. With so much to play for, look for the Rams’ defense to come on strong against the Cardinals sorry offense.
Derek Anderson will have another long day as Chris L0ng and James Hall give his trouble throughout.
DE – Charles Johnson @ Seahawks: I talked about Charles Johnson as a starter last week, and he had a strong game against the Browns. This week should be no different as the Seahawks have a shaky offensive line and Matt Hasselbeck will throw the football often.
DT/ DE – Darnell Dockett vs Rams: This has been an injury riddled season for the Cardinals prized defensive lineman. Just watching the Cardinals on Monday night football you can see this is a group that already has the off-season on their minds.
Dockett will probably give it a go after a shoulder injury on Monday, but he isn’t worth start this week.
DE John Abraham @ Buccaneers: This has been an up and down season for John Abraham but perhaps that is exactly what we should expect from the veteran defensive end. Abraham doesn’t rack up a strong tackle total most weeks and that leaves him as a player who needs sacks to be effective for IDP fantasy football.
Josh Freeman is still a young quarterback, but he doesn’t take many sacks’ thanks to his solid offensive line and steady running attack. Look for other options this week.
Kevin Burnett vs Raiders: The Raiders are falling apart, and Kevin Burnett is leading the charge for San Diego’s now dominate defense. This week the Chargers should have a field day as Jason Campbell is back under center.
Burnett had two sacks against the Raiders early this season so expect a big game from this linebacker.
Lance Briggs @ Lions: Some of you may have noticed that Lance Briggs hasn’t had a steady season this year. Even though Briggs has had his slow points he’s picked it up of late and that will continue against the Lions.
Week one Briggs posted ten tackles against the team, and he should get close to that mark again.
James Farrior @ Ravens: Look to James Farrior as a steady scorer for the rest of the season. The Steelers are banged up at various spots on defense, and Farrior is picking up the slack.
Jon Beason @ Seahawks: Ok, maybe it’s too hard for you to bring yourself to bench Jon Beason but the man has been a bust this season. I was concerned about him this summer when the Panthers moved him out of middle linebacker for Dan Connor and that has proven true.
The emergence of James Anderson has stunted Beason’s production this year as he has just an average of six tackles in two of his past three games. For a player with so much talent, Beason hasn’t found his groove all year.
James Laurinatis @ Cardinals: The Rams’ defense should play a good game against the Cardinals but James Laurinatis isn’t consistent enough to be trusted for the rest of this season. We are in the final week of the regular season (for fantasy football), and you need a steadier option.
CB – Devin McCourty vs Jets: The Patriots rookie corner back is hot and his production should stay strong against the Jets. Look for McCourty to be a good bet to intercept Mark Sanchez as the young quarterback will be challenged in this game.
S – Earl Thomas vs Panthers: Another rookie that is playing well down the stretch as Earl Thomas has posted eight tackles in each of his last three games. This young ball hawk is proving to be more than just a play maker as he scored on a special teams touchdown last week.
Look for Thomas to keep it going against the Panthers as he should rack up at least six tackle and a pick in this game.
CB – Antoine Winfield vs Bills: You may have given up on corner Antoine Winfield a couple of weeks ago, and I couldn’t blame you for doing so. The Vikings just haven’t been the same team this year and Winfield’s production is another example of that.
This is a big bust season for Winfield as he was one of the top corners selected on draft day in many IDP fantasy leagues.
S – Kerry Rhodes vs Rams: The Cardinals haven’t had many bright points this season but Kerry Rhodes has been one of them. That said, look for someone else this week as Rhodes didn’t do much against the Rams week one, and this team is giving up on the season.
