One more week until the final two IDP fantasy football owners’ clash for the right to be a champion this season. With this in mind, many of you that are still in the running will be starting your usual suspects at each position. Below I have a few players to keep in mind if you need some extra help before your battle begins.
Defensive Lineman
Start
John Abraham @ Seahawks: Quietly, John Abraham already has eleven sacks this season. Expect Abraham to rack up at least one more against the aging Matt Hasselbeck as the Falcons play with a lead most of the game.
Sit
Matt Shaughnessy vs Broncos: This has been an up and down season for the talented youngster Matt Shaughnessy. The last time the Raiders played the Broncos, Shaughnessy only totaled two tackles in a game where the Raiders dominated early.
Linebackers
Start
Takeo Spikes @ Chargers: Old man Takeo Spikes just keeps on going as he’s been solid down the stretch. Watching the 49ers game last week it is becoming clear that Patrick Willis is struggling for his standards. Willis had Marshawn Lynch for an easy tackle and Lynch bounced right off him.
Spikes should continue to benefit from Willis’s down play and lack of tackling.
Sit
Kevin Burnett vs 49ers: The Chargers’ defense rebounded last week but Kevin Burnett had a poor game. Burnett just doesn’t rack up enough tackles to be trusted as he needs to provide sacks to succeed for IDP owners. Keep Burnett on the bench for the rest of the season.
Defensive Backs
Start
Eric Berry @ Rams: The Chiefs selected Eric Berry as a top ten draft pick this past spring, and it’s no surprise that he’s playing well this season. Berry should have a great career and be a solid IDP option for years to come. Look for Berry to provide another strong game against a suddenly shaky Sam Bradford.
Sit
Yeremiah Bell vs Bills: I hate to recommend a player like Yeremiah Bell as a bench option in the playoffs, but he’s just not performing. Bell started out with a solid beginning to the season, but he’s failed to post a solid tackle line in awhile.
