2011 Top Catchers for MLB Fantasy Baseball Drafts
A star is born at the catcher position, and his name is Buster Posey. Maybe Posey doesn’t deserve to be the top catcher taken in 2011 MLB fantasy baseball drafts because he’s only played one year, but he will be the top man soon.
Not only is Posey well disciplined at the plate, but he has a very nice power stroke and should post at least 25 home runs this season. For all the success Joe Mauer has had he’s failed to post decent power numbers except for the 2009 season.
While we probably won’t rank Posey over Mauer this season I wouldn’t be surprised if Posey has a better fantasy season.
Another catcher who is on the rise after a solid 2010 season is A’s Kurt Suzuki who should be a productive option all year. If you don’t take one of the top catchers that is alright as breakout options happen every year at this position.
Matt Wieters of the Orioles is one catcher that will go at a cheep value and has the skills to be productive this season. Carlos Santana of the Indians has great ability, but it will be interesting to see how he comes back from his knee injury from last summer.
We will be very active throughout the coming months as we get set for MLB spring training, and another fun filled season of MLB fantasy baseball. Be on the lookout for future articles for catcher and more.
