Third Baseman AL Only Projected Stats
It’s time to get ready for your AL only fantasy baseball draft and below you will find 2011 projected stats for a few third baseman we’ve selected. While we feel these are the top third baseman to go after at your draft, they certainly aren’t all the eligible options at this position.
Overall, we have Alex Rodriguez as the top American League third baseman to draft as he has the strongest projected stats of the group. Evan Longoria could end up being the best by seasons end but I would like to see him rebound from his disappointing home run total last year.
Don’t look for Jose Bautista to have another fantasy baseball MVP like season, but I don’t think he will completely fall of the charts, like years before. Bautista only had around 14 home runs a year before his 50 plus explosion last season.
Part of the reason for that is he wasn’t getting over 400 at bats a year with other teams and was given a full compliment of at bats in 2010. This is why I feel confident (if he stays around 550 at bats that is) that Bautista will hit around 26 this season.
Mark Reynolds moves over to AL only fantasy baseball leagues as he signed a new contract with the Orioles this off-season. Don’t expect Reynolds to hit over .250 but he should be good for at least 30 home runs.
Another third baseman to keep an eye on is Rangers Michael Young as the team signed Adrian Beltre this off-season, and he will be the primary fielder on the hot corner.
Young will be active on the team daily, but he will play all around the diamond at first base, second base, third base and even designated hitter. This will make Young a versatile option for your MLB fantasy squad and his best value should be as a second baseman when he becomes eligible for that position.
