Fantasy Baseball Mock Draft: 19th Round

The Blue Jays will pound the baseball once again in Toronto and young starting catcher J.P. Arencibia is a nice sleeper for fantasy leagues. If John Buck could hit 20 home runs for this team Arencibia should at least hit that many as he has legit power.

19th Round Results

217. Logan Morrison – OF: Logan Morrison is one of my favorite sleepers coming into this season, and he will be a productive player for fantasy. The Marlins have an underrated offense, and Morrison can give you production in many ways.

218. Tyler Colvin – OF: The Cubs have a nice young power hitter in outfielder Tyler Colvin. If Colvin is going to be a worthy fantasy option in the future he will have to breakout of his platoon role and that means hitting for a better average.

219. Dexter Fowler – OF: Some are predicting a much better season for Dexter Fowler this year, but I want to see more. I was disappointed in Fowler’s stolen base total last year, and he needs to threaten for over 40 bags before he’s worth a starting spot.

220. Michael Cuddyer – 1B / OF: If Justin Morneau should have to miss time this season Michael Cuddyer will see more playing time at first base. As it stands, Cuddyer is set to be an outfielder and can give you decent power when on the field.

221. Jhoulys Chacin – SP: The Rockies need youngster Jhoulys Chacin to progress this season if they hope to make the playoffs. I look for that to happen as Chacin has the stuff to be the Rockies No.2 pitcher in the rotation but will throw in the middle of the order.

Facing up against opponents third or fourth best pitcher gives Chacin a chance to sneak a few extra wins out this season.

222. Juan Uribe – 2B, SS, 3B: The Dodgers will use Juan Uribe at second base for most of the season, but he will probably get some time in at short and third. Uribe is a decent source of power but won’t hit for a respectable batting average.

223. Mike Minor – SP: The Braves are projected to have Mike Minor as the teams fifth starter but don’t let that fool you about this kids ability. Minor has the stuff to be a top end pitcher in a few years and is a sneaky addition to your squad.

224. Ty Wigginton – 2B, 3B, 1B: Regular playing time will be an issue for Ty Wigginton but his power is no joke. If Wigginton should receive regular playing time he would be a respectable starting second baseman in mixed leagues.

225. Miguel Tejada – SS, 3B: The power has fallen off in recent years for Miguel Tejada, but I think he will find a rejuvenation by playing with a playoff contending team. Tejada hasn’t been on many winning teams since leaving the A’s years ago and the Giants are clearly a winning squad.

226. Jonathon Niese – SP: New York needs their staff to play above expectations if they have any hopes of making a run at the playoffs. Jonathon Niese should have solid run support this year, and if he pitches well early on he’s worth keeping.

227. Ryan Theriot – SS: Please find another option at the shortstop position. Ryan Theriot may play well for his standards in St. Louis, but you need more for fantasy.

228. J.P. Arencibia – C: This slugger is way underrated coming into fantasy drafts, and he will be a starter for fantasy. J.P. Arencibia, is in the right park to hit home runs and can be counted on from day one to give you production from the catcher position.
