Take a look at our recent updated cheat sheet player rankings for catchers in mixed 5×5 leagues. Download, printout or just view the catcher rankings to get familiar with who is worth wild at this position.

Joe Mauer is the clear star of his list, but I do have some concerns about his knee holding up. Look for the Twins to use him at designated hitter, if he should need time off from playing behind the plate.

Tigers new designated hitter Victor Martinez is still eligible for the catcher position because he played their last season and will fill in for Alex Avila. This change should make Martinez more effective in the long run, but he may have to get adjusted to his new role.

Brian McCann and Buster Posey are the top catchers from the National League, and both should be on the All Star team this summer. Posey is having a great spring already and his power is looking better than ever. If Posey can build on his success from 2010, he could be the second best catcher to select in fantasy baseball by 2012.
