Week Seven Pitcher Rankings
Deeper into May we go as week seven and inter league games are already on the schedule. Star pitchers should have the advantage in mixed league play as opposing lineups don’t face their quality stuff regularly. Because most teams are playing a full slate of games you will see more pitchers than usual listed as two start pitchers on our weekly rankings, and that means it’s time to load up for a big week in head to head formats.
Changes in schedule do to weather have pushed Tim Lincecum’s Sunday start to Monday, and that gives him added value in week seven. While fantasy owners will lose out on Lincecum’s stats for last week, he will obviously help your odds at winning key area’s in your league this week. Carlos Zambrano is another pitcher that will benefit from two starts this week because of the canceled game between the Giants and Cubs.
Zambrano is pitching respectable of late and is worth placing in your lineup even though he will be challenged by facing the Reds and Red Sox on the road. If you have a strong pitching staff and can afford to bench Zambrano, because of his schedule, I can’t blame you for doing it as both teams are hitting well.
Big Apology
Man, just when I started to praise Brandon League last week the wheels fall off, and he gives up a million runs in week six. Sorry to all your fantasy owners out there as it looks like I put the whammy on the poor guy. Because League was so effective before his poor week, the Mariners will give him time to get things straightened out and keep the job.
