Kickers are like the red headed step child of a fantasy football team. Sure, you don’t want them around, but in the end, they are a part of the family, and it wouldn’t be polite not to invite them to social gatherings. While many fantasy owners may use the close your eye’s and pick one approach to this position, finding a good one can make the difference when you’re in a close head to head matchup.

Veteran David Akers was a stud last season as he received plenty of opportunities for points and continued to find success from 45 plus. With the Raiders and Rams enjoying a respectable seasons, talented veteran kickers Sebastian Janikowski and Josh Brown returned to begin the starting options their strong legs suggest they should be yearly.

In the end, a kicker needs his team to be at least respectable on both sides of the football (or great on offense) in order to remain a starter in fantasy leagues and that is why Titans Rob Bironas may disappoint this season. Below we have ADP values as listed on Mock Draft Central. As you will notice, the first kicker isn’t going until the 15th round of ten team leagues, and that tends to be the area to will find most owners looking to grab a kicker in standard internet play.

MDC only lists 12 kickers, and that is probably because these are some of the top listed options in their computer rankings as many fantasy owners won’t stick around for a full mock draft. Still, it’s interesting to get an idea of who the names are that are going and more importantly, which options can be had at the end of your draft. In our honorable mention section, all the kickers listed are worthy of starter consideration but rookie Alex Henery for the Eagles and Rams Josh Brown are the best of that bunch.
