Tight Ends: Projected Stats
CLICK HERE FOR OUR CURRENT FANTASY DRAFT INFORMATION
Before Antonio Gates season was derailed by a foot injury that wouldn’t go away, no tight end could come close to the production he was pumping out. In only ten games, Gates posted 782 yards and ten touchdowns, as he seemed to benefit from more looks as Vincent Jackson was entrenched in a hold out for most of the season.
Clearly, Gates is still the top tight end to draft in fantasy football and that is why we have his projected stats as the only player at his position to amass over 1,000 yards receiving and double digit touchdowns. Fellow star tight ends like Vernon Davis, Jason Witten, Jermichael Finley and Dallas Clark all have the potential to put up those kinds of numbers, but Gates is the only player who can do it with regularity.
If you’re looking for a sleeper this season, give Saints new projected starter Jimmy Graham a look in the later rounds of the draft. There is a reason why the Saints cut Jeremy Shockey after the season was over, and it’s because Graham is clearly the future at this position. Veteran David Thomas will still be in the mix, but I anticipate Graham will be an every week play by at least the middle of October.
Below you will notice our projected stats for tight ends for the 2011 fantasy football season. Our process of ranking our projected stats is based on multiple factors and some of them are upside, risk, weather factors, strength of schedule, effectiveness of their offense, and quarterback.
