Tight Ends ADP Values

As we head into the summer, I wanted to take a first look at ADP values from around the internet In this round of ADP outlooks, I choose Mock Draft Central’s ADP listings to chart below. This article will breakdown tight ends as we have a listed of those options we believe are overvalued and undervalued, for standard redraft leagues.

In MDC’s ADP averages, you can see that the first tight ends off the board are going somewhere around the 5th and 6th rounds. Jason Witten, Vernon Davis, Antonio Gates, Dallas Clark and Jermichael Finley are the only tight ends going inside the first nine round in ten team leagues, and that is probably how it will shake out at your live draft.

Basically all five are valued accordingly, however I strongly disagree with Witten and Davis going ahead of Gates. Witten is a great tight end in PPR leagues but his tendency for low touchdown totals, can be troublesome in standard redraft leagues. Look to Witten as the fourth or fifth option to take of the big five in this draft format.

What you will need to figure out is if you care to use one of the first six selections on a tight end, because if you don’t want to draft one that high you can wait until the back end of your draft to get one. One undervalued tight end that failed to make MDC’s top seventeen is Saints second year tight end Jimmy Graham.

If you’re looking to stash a tight end with upside to perform close to the level of the top five in this game, Graham is the man you want to hold. With Marques Colston coming of his fifth knee surgery in as many years, and Jeremy Shockey out of the picture, I would be surprised if Graham totals around eight or nine touchdowns this season. Sure, the Saints tend to spread the football around, but defense won’t give Graham respect until he earns it and that means Drew Brees should find Graham in favorable matchups, week to week.

Throughout the summer, we will be bringing you new ADP values from different websites and for PPR leagues to give you a range of where tight ends are going from around the web. Take a look a these early summer values and remember that we have links on each player for player outlook gearing up to the 2011 fantasy football season.
